University opens its doors to boost active lifestyles in the community
The University of Wolverhampton is offering free health scans and exclusive fitness sessions to encourage healthier lifestyles.
The University’s WLV Sport team is inviting the members of the public to its Walsall Campus to book a free health scan and talk to health and fitness experts to make way for a healthier community.
The DXA scan is a non-invasive scan that uses low-radiation x-rays to measure BMI (Body Mass Index). The scan shows precisely how fat is distributed to different parts of your body, distinguishing it from lean muscle and bone, calculating your body's shape and where you store fat.
Those eligible to use the health scan will receive a one-to-one consultation to discuss their BMI results, have an individualised programme of activity to help encourage activity and benefit from exclusive free sports and gym sessions.
James Dale, Interim Head of WLV Sport at the University said: “In partnership with the health scan team, WLV Sport are really pleased to be able to offer this service to our students, staff and community.
“This offer will provide people with a snapshot of their current lifestyle, the opportunity to get expert advice from our qualified and experienced practitioners and begin to take steps towards living healthier lifestyles.
“Here at WLV Sport, we understand that not everyone would have access to this type of service. We strongly encourage our community to take advantage of this free service and discover the range of exclusive fitness facilities and sessions available on their doorstep.”
To check if you are eligible for the free health scan and to book a consultation, please call the Sports Centre, quoting ‘WLV Sport Health Scan Project’ on 01902 518900.
