The University of Wolverhampton has celebrated another successful instalment of its long‑running Crystal Lecture, held in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), continuing a tradition that has become one of the most distinguished events in the University’s annual calendar.

Originating in 1994 as a keynote addition to the longstanding Rose Bowl Award ceremony, the Crystal Lecture has grown to embody the strength of the University’s partnership with the CMI and its commitment to nurturing the next generation of business leaders. Over the years, the event has attracted influential speakers and brought together students, academics, and industry professionals for an evening of leadership insight and celebration.

Recognising outstanding MBA achievement

Each year, the Crystal Lecture is accompanied by the presentation of the Rose Bowl Award, a prestigious prize originally introduced by the Institute of Management and now presented in collaboration with the CMI. The award recognises the best‑performing MBA student, continuing a legacy that stretches back to Wolverhampton Polytechnic days.

For 2026, two MBA students were shortlisted:

  • Sadaf Fakharkhah
  • Kieran Sohail

Both students delivered presentations to a panel of CMI judges, who also reviewed their dissertations as part of the assessment process. Following this rigorous evaluation, Kieran Sohail was selected as the 2026 Rose Bowl Award winner.

Rose Bowl Award winner, Kieran Sohail said:

“I am truly honoured to receive the Rose Bowl Award as part of the Crystal Lecture 2026. It has been a privilege to present my work and be recognised alongside such strong fellow candidates. I am grateful to the University of Wolverhampton and the Chartered Management Institute for this recognition and for their continued support in developing future business leaders.”

A Lecture with strong heritage

This year’s Crystal Lecture continued the University’s tradition of inviting influential leaders from across the business community to share their expertise. This years’ keynote speaker was Nate Ethan Watson, visionary artist, advocate, community leader and university Alumnus.

The lecture historically includes the presentation of a bespoke glass piece, originally a Stuart Crystal vase and, more recently, handcrafted works created by University of Wolverhampton students, celebrating the region’s rich glassmaking heritage.
