University alumnae ‘Give to Gain’ on International Women’s Day
Two accomplished alumna of the University of Wolverhampton took part in International Women’s Day activities across the city this year, engaging with audiences at two well‑attended events.
Renowned broadcaster Suzi Perry delivered the keynote address at the Black Country Chamber of Commerce International Women’s Day event at The Mount Hotel. The Chamber’s celebration brought together attendees from business, education and industry, and several University of Wolverhampton staff were present, alongside honorary graduate Manny Singh. The event formed part of the region’s wider programme of International Women’s Day activity.
Meanwhile, fellow alumna Deana Uppal contributed to the University of Wolverhampton’s own International Women’s Day event, Give to Gain, held in the Chancellor’s Hall at City Campus. Originally due to join the event virtually, a change in travel plans meant Deana was able to attend in person, allowing participants to engage directly with her during the session.
Deana, an entrepreneur, mentor and philanthropist, spoke to attendees about her work and experiences, and many remained afterwards to meet her and take photographs. She is recognised for her commitment to charitable initiatives and for supporting young people, particularly women developing careers in business and leadership.
Both alumna played a valued role in this year’s International Women’s Day activity, contributing their time and perspectives to events that highlighted achievements across the region and within the University community.
