The University of Wolverhampton has strengthened its global alumni presence following its representation at the prestigious 2026 UK Alumni Awards, held in Lagos, Nigeria, on 28 February 2026. The event, organised by the British Council, celebrates the exceptional achievements of UK university graduates around the world.

This year, the University proudly supported Sesi Oluwatoyin Orere, a distinguished alumna shortlisted for the Business Innovation Award, recognising her forward‑thinking contributions to entrepreneurial development. Sesi’s shortlisting stands as an acknowledgment of her impact and the University’s continued commitment to nurturing innovative global talent.

To ensure strong support for its alumni at the ceremony Chima Victor Kalu, President of the University of Wolverhampton Alumni Association (Nigeria) attended as the University’s official representative. His participation ensured visible backing for Sesi’s achievements and reinforced the University's ongoing engagement with its international alumni network.

Speaking after the event, Chima described Sesi’s achievement as “a milestone that elevates alumni pride and reinforces the University of Wolverhampton’s reputation for cultivating exceptional innovators.” He added that the strong showing positions the University well for future participation in the awards.

The recognition comes as the University continues to invest in deepening its global alumni relationships. Initiatives championed by the Nigerian alumni chapter include mentoring, volunteering, and professional development activities aimed at expanding opportunities for graduates and strengthening the University’s international footprint.

Sesi’s shortlisting and the University’s active participation at the awards demonstrate Wolverhampton’s commitment to celebrating the accomplishments of its graduates, wherever in the world they make their mark.
