The University has joined the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) as a Client Partner, placing it among a national leadership group working collaboratively to raise standards across the construction industry.

Client Partners commit to registering their construction activity with the Scheme and play an active role in supporting and shaping its work through collaboration. In doing so, they help to drive improvements in environmental performance, community engagement and workforce wellbeing, while building public trust in construction projects.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a UK-wide initiative designed to improve the image and impact of the construction industry by encouraging organisations to go beyond statutory requirements and adopt best practice across their projects.

By becoming a Client Partner, the University is strengthening its approach to delivering construction and estates activity, ensuring projects across its campuses are aligned with these principles of responsibility, sustainability and consideration for local communities. As the university delivers the Estates Masterplan, commitment to responsible construction is a key priority.

The move forms part of the University’s wider commitment to sustainability and investment in its estate, including ongoing decarbonisation activity across its campuses.

Director of Estates & Facilities Rob Gilbert said: “Becoming a Client Partner of the Considerate Constructors Scheme demonstrates our commitment not just to meeting standards, but to helping lead and shape best practice across the sector.

“As we continue to invest in our campuses, we are focused on delivering projects that minimise environmental impact, support our communities and create high-quality environments for our students and staff.”

The University’s involvement in the Scheme also supports its broader environmental and social ambitions, reinforcing its focus on sustainability, responsible development and continuous improvement.
