School gets creative with new industry name badge

02/02/2024

The significance and history of our Wolverhampton School of Art is all set to be blended with the energy of our industry-standard Screen School in a newly created School of Creative Industries.

Clare Schofield, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences, said: “The University is badging the School of Art and the Screen School under an industry-focused name to highlight our strong links with employability.

“Both Schools will continue to offer their individual portfolio of courses with their existing identities but, sitting under the School of Creative Industries, we will bring together our community of creative educators, utilising and enhancing our strong industry links.

“Our aim is to enrich students’ broader awareness of the sector and to highlight the range of career opportunities on offer in the industry as a whole.  We also want to be recognised as the foremost School of Creative Industries with a national and international reputation for inquiry-based learning that encourages risk taking and independent creative thinking as well as leading the way for collaborative practice in the region and increasing business engagement.

“The School of Creative Industries will foster the next generation of creative thinkers and makers to take forward the cultural, community and entrepreneurial practices of art, design, digital presentation and screen production into the world through the lens of our diversity and place.”
