catering is going green

In the fight towards sustainability, catering is going green! Recent changes see a new recycling bin for coffee cups and the introduction of the Too Good To Go scheme which offers discounted food at the end of the day allowing staff and students a bargain whilst reducing food waste.

Bag yourself a bargain

Costa Coffee in the Millenium City Building (MC) City Campus is trialling the ‘Too Good to Go’ scheme meaning that at the end of the day, you can collect a surprise bag for 1/3 of the retail price!

Earn rewards for bringing your own mug to Costa Coffee

To show our appreciation, staff and students earn one bean on the Costa Loyalty App each time you bring your own mug.  Every time that you get to 5 beans - you earn a free hot drink!

When using your own mug at our other coffee shops, you can also receive 25p off your hot drink when you purchase a barista-style hot drink over the counter.

New recycling bins

If you do forget your mug, you can now recycle your coffee cup in one of our new coffee cup bins. Simply follow the instructions for tipping away excess liquid, where to put the lid and where to put the cup and you're supporting the University's mission to go green.

Re-usable water bottles

There are several water fountains around the campuses for you to fill your water bottles with to help reduce the use of plastic by buying single-use bottles. If you do use a plastic bottle that needs to be disposed of, please use the recycling bins located across our campuses rather than the normal rubbish bin. You can also buy reusable water bottles from our catering outlets.
