Solicitor raises the bar at graduation

A leading expert in maritime law and international trade has been honoured for his achievements by the University of Wolverhampton.

Timothy Taylor was presented with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Law at a graduation ceremony on Friday, 13 September 2019.

Timothy is a senior partner in the international law firm, Clyde & Co LLP, and also a graduate of the University.

The award recognises Timothy's outstanding professional achievements, in particular in the field of international dispute resolution practice with one of the biggest global law firms.

He said: "I am truly delighted to be recognised in this way by the University of Wolverhampton particularly as it provided me with one of the foundations of my career more than 40 years ago. The University has developed significantly over the years but should be congratulated and encouraged for continuing to be faithful to its mission of maximising opportunities for all its students."

After graduating with an LLB (Hons) degree in Law from the University of Wolverhampton in 1975, Timothy Taylor qualified as a solicitor in London in 1978.

In the early part of his career, he worked in the field of maritime law and international trade.

He has advised a range of clients in major disaster litigation law including Piper Alpha, the Marchioness Riverboat Disaster, Exxon Valdez and the Deepwater Horizon.

Clyde & Co LLP has grown to be one of the largest law firms in the world with 50 offices across six continents.

Honorary awards are presented by the University of Wolverhampton to people who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise. 

The University's graduation ceremonies take place at the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton, from Thursday, 12 September to Friday, 20 September 2019.
