University celebrates Class of 2020 graduating students
The University of Wolverhampton is virtually celebrating its Class of 2020 graduates – recognising their achievements in an unprecedented year.
The 3,500 students who graduated during the COVID-19 pandemic join a community of over 140,000 graduates across the world, becoming part of the University’s global network.
The week-long celebration being held at a time when students traditionally graduate marks the end of their courses with their fellow students and lecturers, congratulating them for completing their studies during a challenging period in the world’s history.
The University’s official graduation ceremonies have been postponed until July 2021, but Class of 2020 will be able to celebrate their achievements with a week of virtual celebrations from Monday 14th September 2020.
Graduate successes will be celebrated on the University’s Alumni Facebook page as well as their Instagram and Twitter channels with a video message from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Geoff Layer, as well as having the opportunity to use social media filters using the #WLVAlumni hashtag.
Students are invited to share photos, thank you messages and memories of their time at the University of Wolverhampton.
Professor Geoff Layer, Vice-Chancellor at the University, said: “It has been a very difficult year, but our students have achieved spectacularly and magnificently.
“Staff have worked very hard to ensure students have access to the best opportunities they could, and students should be very proud of themselves. These online celebrations do not replace formal graduation ceremonies which will take place next year, and I look forward to welcoming them back to the City next July.”
Graduates are encouraged to keep in touch with the Alumni team and take advantage of a range of benefits and support on offer to them including a discount for Postgraduate study and opportunities to benefit from mentoring, volunteering and career advice.
