Clearing campaign aimed at getting results

11/08/2022

The University of Wolverhampton is gearing up for the busy Clearing period with new website pages, a new marketing campaign and additional onsite support designed to inspire and support students who are applying to study for a degree in September 2022.

Clearing offers an alternative route to apply for a university course for those that do not currently have a place.

Students in England who are studying for BTEC Nationals, A Levels and T-Levels will receive their results on Thursday 18 August 2022.

The University has a team of around 300 staff and students working on the Clearing Hotline, many of which are based at the Springfield Campus in the School of Architecture and Built Environment, and they are already taking calls and enquiries from prospective students.

The new Clearing website pages give detailed information about what courses are available and how students can apply when they receive their results along with the opportunity to engage with current students and take a virtual tour of University buildings.

The new ‘Be Who You Want to Be’ marketing campaign will be running through to mid-September across a variety of content channels including billboards and digital screens across Birmingham City, Wolverhampton, Telford, Kidderminster, Walsall and Dudley and on digital channels, Spotify, All4, YouTube and Social Media sponsored posts.

Local Midlands-based photographer, Verity Milligan, one of the University’s tendered suppliers, photographed the campaign images which is also being supported by a new marketing video created by Tinker Taylor based in Birmingham.

Rebecca Giddings, Head of Recruitment Marketing at the University, said: “The development of the ‘Be Who You Want to Be’ campaign was led by consumer sentiment including surveys with current students, staff and the general public.

“This insight told us that as we continue to emerge from the pandemic, students are more optimistic about their futures, looking forward to university, and feeling more confident about their academic performance, albeit still feeling the effect of lost learning.

“The brief for this new campaign was one of positivity for the future, inspiring those who may be unsure if they are ready for their next step, understanding that many of our applicants will be the first person in their families aiming toward higher education.

“Visually, the campaign is bright, colourful and professional, focusing on inspiration and positive aspirations for the individual.”

Jack Clare, Interim Director of UK Recruitment and Partnerships at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “We have an increasing and ever-growing number of potential students – school and college leavers as well as mature adults - who are currently going through the application process and the recruitment team is busy supporting enquiries from prospective students who are keen to study at the University from September.

“I think the most important message for applicants, regardless of their age, is to take their time and think through their options. We have lots of support on offer and we are really looking forward to welcoming new students for the start of the academic year this September.”
