‘A’ Level Results Day 2014
11/08/2014 - 3.16
Ian Hart, Head of Access and Outreach
This Thursday (August 14th) many students will receive their ‘A’ level results and the University of Wolverhampton wishes them all the very best.
For those who achieve the grades they need, there will be immediate celebration.
For those whose grades are not what they wanted, there may be some pressure and panic before celebrations begin.
Rule number 1: Do not panic because this will not help. It is essential for students to be calm and considered in the response they make to their results.
Rule number 2: Think carefully about what you now want to do and make inquires as soon as you can.
Rule number 3: Remember that there are still thousands of higher education places available to students through Clearingand this is by no means an unusual route for students to gain access to their desired course.
Rule number 4: Be positive and do not delay securing your place.
The University of Wolverhampton has advisers available in The Gateway@The George (01902 321032) and in Shire Hall in Stafford (01902 322032). They are there to help you identify your next steps and to provide you with assistance on taking them. Give us a ring or just pop into see us between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
How do students get prepared?
On results day, students who have already applied through UCAS will need their UCAS number and UCAS website password.
You can use UCAS to search for courses at universities you are interested in.
Ensure you have access to a telephone (notebook and pen) and the internet and a quiet place so that you can make your inquiries in a thoughtful and considered way.
You may need to contact universities directly and speak to course admissions tutors to secure a place. It is important that you know about the course that you want to join and you will be expected to have some knowledge about it.
Universities will have their procedures for Clearing described on their websites.
The University of Wolverhampton clearing hotline is: 0800 953 3222.
Clearing advisers will be available to talk to you on the phone from 7am to 7pm on Thursday 14th August; 7am to 5pm on Friday 15th August; 9am to 4pm on Saturday 16th August.
Our Clearing advisers will also be available to talk to you 18-22 August between 9am and 6pm.
