Festive Wolverhampton: 12 Christmassy things to see and do!

Whether you’re trying to fit some shopping round your studies or searching for some family entertainment, here’s our rundown of fairs and family fun on offer in and around Wolverhampton throughout November and December 2021.

1) Saturday 20th November, 11am–4pm, Christmas Market, Bantock House Museum

Head to Bantock House Museum for their incredibly popular local Christmas market, with over 40 local makers, creators, and enterprises selling everything from needlecraft, sweets, and decorations to jewellery, ceramics, and woodwork. Find that perfect and unique Christmas gift – and don’t worry if you miss this one, there are several dates throughout November and December!

2) Friday 26th November, 5pm–9pm, Himley Christmas Festival

Want to track down a special gift? Or simply let your hair down and have some festive fun? Head to Himley Hall for a fabulous Friday night to explore the craft stalls and festive food and drink on offer. If you’re feeling brave, get your skates on and take a twirl round the ice rink or brave a funfair ride or two.

3) Throughout December, WILD Zoological Park plus Meet Santa

If you love wildlife, then you’ve a treat in store when you visit the WILD Zoological Park at Halfpenny Green in Bobbington, with an added bonus that on selected dates throughout December, you can arrange to meet Santa too! With conservation and education at the heart of its mission, the park will inspire your intrepid explorers this festive season.

4) Friday 3rd December, 4pm–8pm, Codsall Christmas Fair

If you know your way round the local area, why not head to Codsall for their biggest Christmas celebration yet: with live music, carol singing, food, entertainment, and more to keep you warm this December.

5) Saturday 4th–Sunday 5th December, 10am–4.30pm, Mander Centre: Black Country Artisan Fair

Meet makers, creatives, and artists attending this year’s event in the Mander Centre for the Made In the Black Country Artisan Fair, and shop handmade and local this year.

6) Saturday 4th December–Sunday 9th January, Cinderella at The Grand

If audience participation, stunning set design and a sprinkle of celebrity acting mean it’s really Christmastime for you, then head to Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre for this year’s pantomime. With headliners AJ and Curtis Pritchard, Cinderella is bound to raise a smile. Altogether now: “It’s behind you!”

7) Saturday 4th December–3rd January, A Winter Wander Trail at Moseley Old Hall with Percy the Park Keeper

Make the most of your National Trust membership, and join Percy the Park Keeper and his animal friends on a winter wander to give nature a helping hand in the grounds of Moseley Old Hall. An ideal way to get the children out in the fresh air this winter.

8) Wednesday 8th December. 7.30pm, Festive Frivolities, Arena Theatre

If you need some crafty inspiration and handmade gifts, why not join the staff, associate artists and partners at our very-own Arena Theatre for their seasonal celebration? Complete with live entertainment and mince pies, it’ll be sure to get you feeling festive.

9) Saturday 11th, Sunday 12th December. 10am–6pm, An Enchanted Christmas, Black Country Living Museum

Are you lucky enough to have tickets to the Black Country Living Museum’s An Enchanted Christmas? Take a seasonal stroll through the gas-lit streets and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Christmas on this Nutcracker-themed experience perfect for families. Tickets also available for Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th December.

10) Friday 17th–Thursday 23rd December, Wolverhampton Christmas Market

If you’re heading into the city centre, you’ll find it hard to avoid Wolverhampton’s Christmas Market on Dudley Street. It might be the ideal place to pick up some gifts, without having to venture far from campus – leaving you more time to fit in some study and revision ahead of new-year exams.

11) Thursday 16th–Sunday 19th December, Himley’s Magical Christmas Portal

If you’ve got children (or simply love a bit of festive magic yourself), why not head to Himley Hall for their Magical Christmas Portal? With Father Christmas on the big screen, a Christmas food market, festive entertainment and vintage fairground, you’ll find plenty to keep you and the family entertained on a special day out.

12) Sunday 19th December, Santa Sunday Lunch at Molineux

Why not plan a bit of a break from the Christmas rush this year? Let a special visit from Santa, games, and entertainment take care of the children as you join friends and family for a three-course festive carvery lunch at the Wolves’ iconic Molineux stadium.
