Departures

Moving out of your accommodation

When it’s time to leave your uni halls over summer, here’s what you need to do before you go:

  • Take everything with you – anything left behind is likely to be disposed of.
  • Lock all windows and doors before you go.
  • Strip and clear your bed - any bedding left will be donated to a homeless charity.
  • Clean your bedroom and bathroom – to avoid charges for cleaning or damage.
  • Redirect your post – once your contract ends, any mail will be sent back to the sender (so yeah… you might miss something important).
  • Return your keys to the Accommodation Hub before you leave – or you could be charged (If the office is closed, please contact the security team).
  • Donate unwanted clothes to the Heart Foundation bins on campus.
Thinking about next year?

You can apply to return to university accommodation, including living with friends as a group, ask the accommodation team for more information.

If you’re thinking of moving into private rented housing, we recommend using trusted local schemes:

Wolverhampton Council – Call us First

Walsall Council –     Midlands Landlords Accreditation Scheme

You can also contact the Students’ Union for help and advice on your rights and renting in the private sector or check out the Living off Campus web page for more information.

Left something behind?

If you accidentally leave valuable items (such as laptops, phones or TVs), we’ll keep them safe and contact you.

Please get in touch with the accommodation team as soon as possible to arrange collection.

You’ll receive a reminder, but if we don’t hear from you within 10 days, the items will be disposed of.

Important

If you don’t return your keys or leave stuff in your room, you could be charged until everything is sorted and your room is cleared.
