When can I arrive?
Your arrival date will be confirmed when you accept your licence agreement.

Arrival booking slots (City Campus – Wolverhampton)
To help things run smoothly during the busy September intake, you’ll be asked to book an arrival time slot (email sent from late August).
This helps avoid long queues and ensures you can collect your keys quickly.
- If you’re arriving after 5pm or at the weekend, please let us know in advance.
- Our security team will be informed and available to help you with access and key collection.
What should I do before I arrive?
To make your move-in as easy as possible, please complete the following:
✅ Complete your online induction via your StarRez account
✅ Read the Living in Accommodation Guide for key information and FAQs
✅ Check your contents insurance (Howdens) – consider increasing cover for high-value items, download the app for more information
✅ Download the Circuit Go app to use laundry facilities
✅ Register with a local doctor (details in your accommodation guide)
✅ Contact Disability and Inclusion Team if you need additional support
✅ Get a TV Licence if required (fines can be up to £1,000)
What should I bring?
You don’t need to bring everything with you straight away — remember, you’ll be sharing your kitchen with others. It’s a good idea to wait and see what everyone brings to avoid duplicates!
Essentials:
- Bedding (or buy a bedding pack from us)
- Clothes and personal items
- Coat hangers
- Basic kitchen items (plate, bowl, mug, glass, cutlery, simple cooking equipment)
You can top up later at local shops like Asda (Wolverhampton) or Morrisons (Walsall).
- You can also order items in advance and have them delivered to your room using UniKitOut
Room Inventory Forms
When you first get to your flat, you’ll be given an inventory form. This is your chance to check out your room and flag anything that’s not right – think damage, faults, or anything in a not-so-great condition
If you spot any issues, make sure you log them through the Online Maintenance Reporting system (you’ll find instructions on the inventory form).
Once you’ve filled it in, email it over to your local Facilities Information Hub:
- City Campus – Cityaccommodationhub@wlv.ac.uk
- Walsall Campus – Walsallhub@wlv.ac.uk
It might feel like a bit of a chore, but it’s worth it. If you don’t record issues now, you could get charged for them at the end of your contract. Once you’ve handed it in, you can’t go back and add anything later, so make sure you don’t miss anything!
Bringing your car?
If you plan to bring a car, you’ll need parking access:
- Email your car insurance certificate to the accommodation office
- Access to the car park will be arranged once this is received

UUK Code of Practise
The University follows the UUK Accommodation Code of Practice, which sets out the standards for student housing across the UK.
This means you can expect your accommodation to meet high standards for safety, wellbeing and management while you’re living with us.
The Code also replaces the need for some licensing requirements, giving you reassurance that your accommodation is well managed.
