Judo Championships at Walsall Campus saw students succeed

WLV Sport recently hosted an action-packed British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Judo Championships at Walsall Campus with students achieving outstanding performances.

The competition included nearly 300 students from universities across the country and showcased the high quality of university Judo. Across the weekend, students from the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy course provided sports therapy provisions to the student athletes.

A huge well done to University representatives for their successes. 

  •  Isobel Kitchen, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, Gold Medal, under 63kg (1Kyu & above)
  • Gwen Lloyd, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy, Gold Medal, under 70kg (1Kyu & above)
  • Eryk Neumann, BSc (Hons) Architecture, Gold Medal under 73kg (1Kyu & above)
  • Ats Prangli, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, Bronze Medal, under 81kg (1Kyu & above)

James Dale, Head of Sport and Physical Activity, said: "The student athletes' incredible performances have earned them a spot in the European University Games taking place in Hungary in July. From everyone at the University of Wolverhampton, congratulations on your accomplishments and we wish you luck in future competitions."

Eryk Neumann, BSc (Hons) Architecture, said: "I was proud to be able to represent my University, it was an experience like no other."
