Enrolment - Right to Study
Right to Study
We look forward to greeting you when you arrive in Wolverhampton and have prepared this information so that you are able to arrive and enrol safely.
By now you should have applied for your visa and we hope that your application will be successful.
When your visa is granted you should receive an email confirming this along with your passport and other supporting documents. It is important to keep the email with your passport when you travel to the UK.
Your passport will contain a visa sticker (vignette) that is valid for 90 days. You must travel to the UK during this 90 days and must access your eVisa via your UKVI account. To provide your right to study to the university, please generate a sharecode using the view and prove service. Select ‘prove your immigration status for other purposes’ (e.g., for university right to study checks) and your sharecode will be generated. Please note your sharecode to prove your right to study with the university will start with the letter 'S' and will be valid for 90 days.
Completing your Right to Study tile for your enrolment
The Right to Study tile is completed by all students with an overseas fee status during the online enrolment process. You will need to pass each requirement to become fully enrolled. You must start this tile even if you have not yet travelled to the UK. You can access the task via e:Vision here: https://smsweb.wlv.ac.uk/urd/sits.urd/run/siw_lgn
You will need to upload your Right to Study documents. These include a copy of your passport, vignette and UK flight evidence. You will also need to provide your sharecode (which begins with the letter S). Once the document is attached ensure you press the upload button, so your document is saved on the system.
You can view an example of the Right to Study upload page below:
If you are a full-time student, you are required to live within a reasonable commute of the University. This will mean you are able to attend all your classes and become part of the wider University community. It is better to live close to the campus on which you are studying, but we will allow you to enrol if you live within a one hour commute.
When completing your address, please include your house number, or if you are in a flat or hall of residence, your flat and/or room number.
You must also provide a UK mobile phone number. You will not be enrolled with a distant (further than one hour commute) or an incomplete address.

This is the page of your passport which contains your photograph, biometric information and validity dates, and should look like this:
Provide your UK flight evidence as soon as you have made your travel arrangements so we can evidence your arrival to the UK. This should be your boarding pass or flight tickets showing your full name and travel dates.
The vignette is the yellow sticker inside your passport granting you leave to enter the UK. Your vignette will be valid for 90 days. Upload your vignette copy as soon as you receive this in your passport.
When you travel to the UK you should have the documents you used to apply for the visa with you, plus your passport, which should have the 90 day travel permit inside. You also need to make sure you bring a copy of your CAS statement with you (this can be printed from your e:Vision account).
You must travel to the UK before your 90 day travel permit expires and before the latest start date for your course.
You must also enrol by the stated deadline – if you don’t arrive in time you will not be allowed to start the course and your visa will be curtailed (cancelled), meaning you will need to leave the UK.
If you are concerned about the date when you will be arriving in the UK please contact us before you travel.
You must keep your contact details in e:Vision up to date at all times, even if you have not secured accommodation when you first arrive and have to move to a few different locations. We expect you to maintain a current postal address, email address and telephone/mobile number at all times.
Please contact us for further information or advice if you have any difficulties. Students have previously experienced difficulties with:
- Overseas fee paying students who are not studying using a student route visa, your right to study requirements may be different to those stated above and you may not have a copy of each of the required uploads.
- Students whose visa applications are refused. Please email a copy of the refusal paperwork to us.
- Students no longer planning to join the University of Wolverhampton or are delayed. If this applies to you, please let us know as soon as possible.
- Difficulties uploading documents.
You can contact the team on RTS@wlv.ac.uk or by visiting an enrolment hub or the ASK office on campus.
