University teams up with West Bromwich Albion
The University of Wolverhampton has announced its partnership with West Bromwich Albion Football Club for the 2023/24 campaign, as the club’s Official Higher Education Partner.
The deal extends the existing partnership, which first launched in 2013, between the club and the University after several successful years.
The University will work in collaboration with West Bromwich Albion to offer internships, work placement opportunities and student experiences across several departments at the club, both inside and out of sport.
It will also explore potential business development opportunities between the University and the club, and collaborative developments with the University’s School of Sport.
Kerys Harrop, former Lioness and Football Coaching and Performance Lecturer at the University, said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with West Bromwich Albion. The relationship provides exciting opportunities for our students to gain valuable experience working across different departments at the club and we are incredibly proud to be an official partner.”
Amanda West, Head of the School of Sport at the University, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to continue our partnership with West Bromwich Albion Football Club. This collaboration reflects our joint dedication to harnessing the incredible power of higher education and football for the benefit of our communities. I’m excited to embark on the next stage of our partnership to create opportunities for our students to make a difference.”
Mark Miles, Managing Director at West Bromwich Albion, said: “We are delighted to renew our longstanding partnership with the University of Wolverhampton, which is now close to a decade long, and would like to thank them for their continued support. We look forward to continuing the partnership with the University, together with providing the students with more exciting experiences here at West Bromwich Albion.”
As part of the sponsorship agreement, the club supports the University’s staff and students with a range of recruitment and engagement activities, enriching their courses and student experience from Foundation level study through to Postgraduate research.
University of Wolverhampton students were able to benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities last academic year, such as academy visits, commercial Q&As, official match reporting from the press box and even a chance to play on The Hawthorns pitch.
The University’s mission is to maximise opportunity by generating knowledge, innovation and enterprise. To be a progressive and influential sector leader, championing diversity, growth, and creating life changes for all while enhancing the economic impact and accelerating ambition across the entire University community.
