Armistice and Remembrance Day plans across Wolverhampton, Walsall and Telford
Across the region, parades and services will be taking place on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday to pay tribute to the men and women of the armed forces with further details outlined below. A donation link for those who wish to support the Poppy Appeal charity but are unable to attend a service is also included.
Armistice Day
On Saturday 11 November 2023 across the UK people will observe a two-minute silence at 11am. To find out more about Armistice Day, please visit the Royal British Legion’s website.
What is Remembrance Day?
Remembrance Day honours those who serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. The Royal British Legion describe it as a day where everyone unites to remember them. The day of remembrance is often symbolised with the red poppy which represents Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.
Remembrance Day in Wolverhampton
Every year, Wolverhampton City Council hosts a parade in support of Remembrance Sunday. This year the parade will see over 300 veterans, serving military personnel, reserves, cadets and other organisations march through Wolverhampton City Centre. Remembrance Day in Walsall
The Remembrance Day parade in Walsall will take place on Sunday 12 November from Walsall Town Centre with a service to follow at the Cenotaph in Bradford Place. In addition to the parade, a two-minute silence will be observed at 11am. There are further services being held across Walsall. Remembrance Day in Telford
A range of virtual and physical events organised by the Council will be taking place across the borough to mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. Further details can be found on the Telford & Wrekin Council website.
