Newly sponsored teaching room on track to provide opportunities for students
The Central Rail Systems Alliance (CRSA) has sponsored a teaching room at the University of Wolverhampton’s School of Architecture and Built Environment at its £120M Springfield Campus.
The £10k per annum sponsorship will provide opportunities for current and prospective student to get skills on track for the future.
The alliance between Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, Atkins and TSO, who make up the CRSA, is a 10-year programme which has been created to make a positive impact on the UK track renewals industry by drawing on the strengths of all alliance partners and through innovative collaborative working.
As part of the partnership students studying a variety of degree courses including Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Building Surveying and Structural Engineering will have the opportunity to have a summer placement with the CRSA.
Dr Paul Hampton, Head of the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University, said: "The alliance will also support with prize giving at our graduation ceremonies held at The University of Wolverhampton at the Halls. The CRSA have also provided a commitment to support prospective applicants looking to study at the University of Wolverhampton in the form of speaking to and supporting applicants at our Open Days and also providing a school-work placement for those looking to register to study for a degree at the University."
Alan Atkins, Alliance Director (CRSA) and Board Member at Balfour Beatty, said: “We want to attract new, diverse, challenging talent that will be brave, bold and move the industry forward in a way we haven’t experienced. This agreement is about us investing to get the people we want to move the industry forward. As a collective we are really excited about that and written in our commitments that we are going to go out and speak to students, parents and careers about the opportunities available in this sector, which they would normally not have exposure to.”
