Counter Terrorism Advice

Action Counters Terrorism (ACT)

With the enduring terrorist threat, it is now more important than ever that everyone plays their part in tackling terrorism. Your actions could save lives. That’s why Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) is encouraging communities across the country to help the police tackle terrorism and save lives by reporting suspicious behaviour and activity.

Like other criminals, terrorists need to plan. If you see or hear something unusual or suspicious, trust your instincts and ACT by reporting it in confidence at gov.uk/ACT or, in an emergency, dial 999.

Counter Terrorism Policing works around the clock to prevent the threat of extremism and terrorism. They also work to pursue active terrorist threats and stop those who seek to harm.

Any information could be significant. It is better to be safe and report it. Visit gov.uk/ACT and remember, trust your instincts and ACT.

There are different ways you can report possible terrorist activity either in the UK, or that might affect the UK.

Not if you don’t want them to. All information provided is treated in the strictest of confidence. If someone does need to get in touch for any reason, the officers will be extremely discreet.

Everyone providing information for a report is asked to give their name and contact details, but this is your decision. Providing your contact details will help verify the authenticity of the information and provide support as quickly as possible.
