Celebrating Vishaki, a taste of Sikh culture and tradition

24/04/2023

In this video, third-year Law student and President of Sikh Society, Parmeshwar Singh, talks about the meaning and value of Vaisakhi.

Vaisakhi is a significant occasion for the Sikh community. It commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa, which is a group of fully initiated Sikhs. The festival is an opportunity for Sikhs to reflect on the teachings of their faith and to renew their commitment to the Sikh way of life. Special prayers are offered, and the occasion is marked with processions and the sharing of food and sweets.

Visaki celebrations will be taking place on Wednesday 26 April 12 am - 2 pm, at the SU Venue. The event is led by the SU's Sikh Society, with the Chaplaincy. If you would like to know or be involved, please email Chaplaincy@wlv.ac.uk
