Planning and Transport expert driving change receives honorary recognition

A town and transport planning expert has been recognised by the University of Wolverhampton for her contribution in planning great ‘liveable’ places.  

Victoria Hills, Chief Executive at the Royal Town Planning Institute, has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Technology. She has more than 20 years’ experience in planning, transport and organisational leadership and development. Victoria has also previously worked for all three London Mayors.  

Honorary awards are presented by the University of Wolverhampton to people who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise. 

Victoria was formerly Chief Executive of the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, which saw her lead on the early stages of the transformation of the Old Oak and Park Royal opportunity area. 

She was Head of Transport for the Greater London Authority and also held a variety of roles in transport consultancy and local government. 

Reflecting on the award, Victoria said: “I’m truly honoured to be recognised in this way. I spent many happy years at Wolverhampton as an undergraduate, and the University enabled me with strong foundations which I have built my career on. Nearly 30 years on from my graduation, it’s heartening to see the University thriving and I look forward to offering my support to current and future students.”  

The University’s graduation ceremonies are taking place at University of Wolverhampton The Halls from Friday 6 September to Friday 13 September 2024.
