Halls of Residence Arrival Information 2026/27

Halls of residence move-in dates vary depending on the licence agreement you have with us. Below confirms the dates that you can move into your new Halls of Residence:

37 week licence: move-in will take place on Sunday 13th September 2026 between 9am - 4pm.

42 week licence: move-in will take place on Sunday 6th September 2026 between 9am - 4pm.

Late Arrivals:

If you expect to arrive after 4:00 PM on your scheduled arrival date, our security team will be available to assist with your check-in. Please inform us in advance so we can notify them accordingly.

Early Arrivals:

You need to email your relevant campus hub to inform them of your early arrival date. This will ensure that a room is ready for your arrival. Please be mindful that if you arrive prior to your contract start date, you will have to pay for nights spent in accommodation before the start of your contract. If your room will not be ready for your early arrival, you will be placed in a temporary room until your room is ready to move into.

Please note room changes will not be made during this period.

E-Induction:

Prior to moving in, you’ll need to complete your pre-arrival online induction. Once you’ve accepted your accommodation contract, you’ll be directed to it via your StarRez portal. It’s a must-do, as it forms part of your licence agreement, so don’t skip it.

The e-induction covers all the essentials you’ll need before moving in – from health & safety to facilities, support, and everything in between. Basically, it’s your quick guide to knowing what’s up before you arrive

Key Collection:

You can pick up your keys from the Accommodation Hub on your move-in day. This is also when you’ll find out your room number. Before you arrive, you’ll get all the important details via email, so keep an eye on your inbox.

When you get there, just head to the right hub to check in. You’ll be given your keys or fob, plus a welcome booklet with everything you need to know about your accommodation. Think of it as your go-to guide for settling in and making the most of your new place.

Room Inventory Forms

When you first get to your flat, you’ll be given an inventory form. This is your chance to check out your room and flag anything that’s not right – think damage, faults, or anything in a not-so-great condition

If you spot any issues, make sure you log them through the Online Maintenance Reporting system (you’ll find instructions on the inventory form).

Once you’ve filled it in, email it over to your local Facilities Information Hub:

It might feel like a bit of a chore, but it’s worth it. If you don’t record issues now, you could get charged for them at the end of your contract. Once you’ve handed it in, you can’t go back and add anything later, so make sure you don’t miss anything!

Departure Information

When it’s time to leave your uni halls over summer, here’s what you need to sort before you go:

  • Take everything with you – anything left behind will most likely get thrown away
  • Lock all windows and doors
  • Any bed linen packs left will be donated to a homeless shelter
  • Give your room a quick clean – saves you getting charged for mess or damage
  • Redirect your post – once your contract ends, any mail will be sent back to the sender (so yeah… you might miss something important)
  • Don’t forget to return your keys to the Accommodation Hub before you leave – or you could be charged. If the office is closed please contact the security team.
Left something behind?

If you accidentally leave valuables (like laptops, phones, TV’s etc.), they’ll be kept safe and you’ll be contacted to collect them. If you realise you’ve forgotten something, get in touch with the accommodation team ASAP to arrange picking it up.

They’ll send a follow-up reminder too, but if there’s no contact within 10 days, the items will be disposed of – so don’t leave it too long!

Heads up:

If you don’t return your keys or leave stuff in your room, you could be charged until everything is sorted and your room is cleared.
